Are underground injection wells regulated under the SDWA?

Yes.  One SDWA aspect of protecting the supply of drinking water is a framework for the underground injection control (“UIC”) program, which prevents the injection of liquid wastes into the underground sources of drinking water (“USDW”).   Both the EPA and the states implement the UIC program, setting standards for safe waste injection practices and banning certain types of injection altogether.
